Meet the Maker -- Sandra Perez
As you enter Soapy Gnome you are greeted by a beautiful mural. Local artist Sandra (Sandy) Perez created this whimsical work that perfectly captures the vibe of our store.
While you explore our space you will notice we have several smaller pieces that were also painted by Sandra. She describes her artwork as emotional, eclectic, layered, personal and instinctive. Sandy finds it very rewarding when others have an emotional response to her work and can identify with it.
Sandra has been a resident of Goshen since 2012 and her work is also featured in the city's Art Alley. Prior to living in the Maple City, she won a juried show in San Juan.
The biggest inspiration in Sandra's art has been her mother who instilled in her the importance of women's rights and education. Perez hopes her art conveys this message of empowerment and solidarity.
Sandra smiles often and loves to give hugs. Plan to visit Soapy Gnome soon and feel the warmth radiate from her art.
