From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank you for the last 12 years that you have supported my in-person soap shop. Whether you were a regular customer that became a good friend, or a once-in-a-while window shopper--each and every one of you are an important part of our business.
Our customers were just as important to building the beautiful, welcoming place as myself or my team were. I'm really proud of what we were able to create together. Each of us was a part of something very special.
Let's treasure those moments.
I know that for many of you, Soapy Gnome was a place you came when you needed a pick-me-up. And I know that for many of us, myself included, we're going to miss the smiling faces of my team, the relaxing scents, the positive stickers and cards, the place to hang out with your friends.
My heart breaks that I did not have the energy to keep the store going, because we had been a place of welcome in the community.
This is a time of uncertainty. Humans in our community are at great risk: immigrants and their families, members of the LGBTQ community, people in minority groups, folks in the disability community, teachers, government employees, women, and more. How we show up for them matters.
I stand with our neighbors. "Love thy neighbor" matters to me. In this time, we may feel helpless and sometimes hopeless. What we can do, is just a little bit more. Get to know your neighbors, grow a little extra in your garden to share,
I'm passing the torch to each and every one of you. What is the little bit more that you can do? What can you do in your vocation or at home that will spread love and welcome to others?
Share photos and stories so we can inspire each other.
